4-Frame (Langstroth) Nucs with Mated Queen. The queen will already be loose on the nuc frames within the nuc box and laying. Queens will be 2023 produced. All frames are standard (deep) size. (Queens will most likely be marked too, however as of the time of this writing this cannot be guaranteed for all nucs.)

Includes: 2+ Frames Brood, 1+ Frame Food, some empty drawn comb space for the queen to lay.

How Pick-Up Works:

After reserving we will receive your order and contact information. As we get closer to the arrival date and get updates from our supplier, we will pass along those details to you and finalize pick-up dates / times. Typically we aim for pick-up during morning hours, so that the bees can be (1) safely sealed up early in the morning before they go out to forage, & (2) the bees do not have to spend too long inside of the nuc box, minimizing stress including chance of overheating. Typically this is a short time frame for pick-up and we know many customers can have difficulty fitting within their schedule - fortunately, you do not need to install nucs right away. Instead, you can place them in front of or on top of the hive they will later be installed in, and just open the front entrance. You can then come back to install at a later time or in the next day or two.

 How Shipping Works:

 As with pick-up, once we receive your reservations we will keep you updated as we gets updates from our producers, and we will let you know as soon as we know an expected shipping date. These nucs will be tightly sealed and taped up, with double-screened mesh used for the vent holes, and handling instructions posted on the box for postal worker reference and ease of mind. All shipping is SIGNATURE REQUIRED and DO NOT SAFE DROP; as such, you should either receive directly or will need to pick-up at the post office, but they should not leave it at your doorstep unattended. In all cases, SHIPPING IS UNINSURED AND FULLY AT CUSTOMER RISK REGARDLESS OF THE REASON FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE IN TRANSIT. That said, we have had very good success shipping via Canada Post to date, with very few issues when we ship nucs. Typically we always ship nucs on a Monday, to avoid the worst case scenario of a nuc sitting in the Canada Post mail stream over the weekend.

Nuc boxes are built specifically for transporting bees: ventilation holes on both sides, safe hand holds, and receiving slots on the bottoms of the nucs to prevent frames from swaying and bumping each other. The ideal transport box!

How Shipping Will Appear in Cart:

Please note that during checkout, shipping will be listed simply as Canada Post - $XX, where XX will be $50 x # of nucs selected. HOWEVER, if you also add other items, you will see a variety of options to shipping those other items. In this case, if you ordered 1x nuc (shipping $50), and then a couple other items, you may see something like:

  • $65 Regular Parcel
  • $67 Expedited Parcel
  • $75 Xpresspost

In this case, the $50 is being added to the total for the other options. No matter what, the $50 will your nuc will be for shipping via Canada Post priority, so here all you are doing is selecting your preferred option for shipping the other items in your cart. For example in the above case, if you choose regular parcel, the following will happen:

  • We will pack and ship your non-nuc ordered items via Regular
  • We will then ship your nucs via Priority, when they come in

You may find it simpler to check-out your nucs separately, to avoid any confusion!

Reservations Include $30 Non-Refundable Deposit per Nuc *

* This means that if you have to cancel your order, you will be refunded fully minus $30. This amount is considered your commitment fee. Please note that you must still give us at least 2 weeks notice of cancellation, or we may retain 50%-100% of your payment.
